Why Use a Modular System Over Conventional Shelving?
BAC Systems Industrial Drawers are very popular amongst Australian Industrial and Commercial businesses for their longevity and because they are designed to be configured to suit our clients’ specific needs. This configurability is only possible as the BAC Range is designed to be modular.
BAC Systems is an Australian manufacturer of one of the world’s most effective storage solutions for small to medium-sized spare parts. This system is our BAC System High-Density Drawer Storage range, also known as BAC Storage Modules.
BAC Customers recognise many benefits when upgrading to the BAC Systems range of Industrial Drawers. Enjoying immediate benefits, our clients find that their productivity increases, along with many other benefits. Here are some of the key improvements that BAC Industrial Drawers offer over a generic shelving system:
Decreased storage footprint: While the space-saving depends upon the individual situation, we find that, on average, BAC Parts Drawers require only a third of the floor area used by generic shelving to store the same inventory. This is due to the modular drawer partitions and dividers that can be adjusted to create locations that are no larger than needed. Also, drawers don’t require open space above them for access as general shelves usually need, and there is a lot of storage volume saved because of this.
Decreased storage footprint results in faster pick-times: It is simple mathematics – if you walk 3 or 4 paces less to pick a part, it will be faster to get there. An elementary concept that allows pickers to greatly increase their pick rates, especially in the larger warehouses. BAC Drawer Cabinets are logically set-out so that they are easy to integrate with inventory management systems. This means that setting up locations and finding these locations is as simple for BAC Drawers as it is for generic shelving.
Parts are cleaner and part integrity is better maintained: As each part is enclosed within a drawer, it is exposed to less dust and UV radiation. Furthermore, the individual labelled compartments, viewed from above when a drawer is open, make it easier to prevent parts from being placed in the wrong location.
These three simple improvements are making a big difference for our clients. If your own warehousing operation requires an update to increase its efficiency, consider contacting our BAC Technical Sales Team to arrange your free site survey.
